Connectors
Description of purpose: This is a cable that connects a peripheral device to a hardware
component, there are many types of connectors but the main ones used today are
USB AND FIREWIRE ETC. Other connectors include Ethernet, parallel and

How it communicates with other components: Whenever a bundle of wires passes through a component of the
computer that might have to be removed there must be a connector there to allow
that removal to happen, a single connector can have more than 100 wires and it
is just more useful and efficient as it allows many operations to take place
through the connections of wires.

Description of purpose: Storage devices are usually connected to the computer
through integrated drive electronics (IDE), it’s the standard way for a storage
device to connect to a computer.
How it communicates with other components: The IDE controller communicates with the computer as it is directly connected to the motherboard and can therefore interface with it, hence
it can transfer data from the computer to another component in the
system.

EIDE CONTROLLER
Description of purpose: EIDE stands for enhanced standard electronic device, this is
an interface between your computer and its mass storage devices, EIDE makes it
possible to connect to a hard disk larger than its original megabyte capacity
which is 528MB, and EIDE also provides faster access to the hard-drive,
supporting the CD-ROM, when updating your computer the EIDE controller can then
be added through a card slot.
How it communicates with other components: The EIDE controller communicates with the other computer components as the EIDE controller is connected to the back of the computer and it can transfer data from the computer to another device.
